Auto is a 10 week old baby that was found on the side of the road in a ditch by a good sam & brought to a busy SW Virginia shelter where he was fed & cared for. When he was first rescued you could see all his ribs & hip bones & he was riddled with parasites. He was nursed back to health & during this process they realized something was not quite right with him.

Upon examination by a vet it was determined that little Auto was in fact what would be considered legally blind. The vet noted "Auto does not appear to be visual. He does not have pupillary light response. He will blink when you touch his eyelids and the corner of his eye but if you move your finger towards his eye he has no response. I would consider this puppy blind."

Here is what we have learned about Auto since being in foster care. He is a happy, confident little guy who loves other dogs & playing and napping on his back with his belly in the air! As far as his vision..... He can see the ball if you throw it within about 3 feet, he stops at the edge of the steps, can easily go up and down steps, does not bump into things. He may be blind but he does have some limited sight! Wether its shadows or light or what exactly he sees we may never know but we know he can see some close up.
